Belianska Cave: a day out from Kamzík

The Tatras’ largest show cave lies above Tatranská Kotlina, 9 km from our guesthouse. It was discovered in 1881, opened to visitors a year later and became one of the world’s first electrically lit caves in 1896. For families staying with us, it is a reliable choice for a rainy day.

What to expect

What to wear and who the tour suits

The cave is damp, with a temperature of around 5–6 °C. Even in summer, bring a jacket, long trousers and sturdy shoes, as the steps can be wet. There are 874 steps, so consider whether younger children will manage the route. Pushchairs are not suitable for the tour.

Near the cave, you will also find the Spider Park high ropes course. Opening arrangements and conditions vary by season, so check with the operator. A marked trail leads from Tatranská Kotlina to Plesnivec mountain hut.

Before setting out, check tour times and ticket availability. Allow extra time for the uphill path from the car park in Tatranská Kotlina to the cave. After the tour, explore the area or return to Ždiar for dinner and the spa.
